Chatcrate

Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Chatcrate handles and why. "We" means Choodle Ltd, trading as Chatcrate (company no. 17506918, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom). We are the data controller for the data described below. Contact us at support+chatcrate@orderhue.com.

The short version

What the extension handles on your device

Chatcrate works only on chatgpt.com and gemini.google.com. It reads what those pages have already shown you. It doesn't scroll, click, load more chats or call the sites' internal interfaces. It keeps the following in your browser's own extension storage (chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB), on your device only:

WhatFor each chat you see or file: its title, web address, site, ID and when it was seen or filed. Your folders, tags and settings. Pro only, and only while the "full-text search" switch is on: the text of chats you open, up to 20 KB per chat, so you can search them.
WhyTo organise and search your chats, the extension's single purpose.
Who receives itNobody. It is not sent to us, to Freemius or to anyone else.
How longUntil you delete it. In Options you can switch off full-text search, which deletes the stored text, or wipe the whole library. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored. Backups and exports you save are files on your device, under your control.

Because this data never leaves your device, we can't access, correct or delete it for you. Use the controls in Options instead.

Licence checks (Pro)

When you activate a Pro licence, the extension contacts Freemius (api.freemius.com), our licensing provider. It sends:

Freemius replies with an install number. The extension then checks the licence about once a week, sending the licence key, the random install ID and that install number. It sends the same when you deactivate. Like any internet request, these reveal your IP address to Freemius. Nothing about your chats, folders, tags, browsing or device is sent. Free users make no licence requests.

WhyTo confirm your Pro licence and turn Pro features on or off.
Lawful basisContract (to provide the Pro features you bought).
Kept forFreemius keeps activation records while your licence is active, then under its own retention rules.
ProcessorFreemius (licensing and merchant of record).

When you buy Chatcrate Pro

Pro is sold by Freemius, our reseller and merchant of record. Freemius collects your payment and billing details, handles VAT and sends your receipt. It acts as an independent controller for that data under its own privacy policy. We never see your full card details.

If you type your email address at checkout but don't finish buying, Freemius may send you up to three reminder emails about that order. The checkout tells you this and has a "No thanks" link that stops them, and each email has an unsubscribe link. We don't use that address for anything else.

What Freemius shares with usYour name, email address, country, the plan you bought, your licence key and its activation records (install number, the fixed install name, activation and check dates).
WhyTo deliver Pro, check your licence, send renewal and receipt emails and give support.
Lawful basisContract (to provide what you bought). After your licence ends, legal obligation (we must keep sales records for tax and company law).
Kept forWhile your licence is active, plus 6 years for tax and accounting records.

When you email support

WhatYour name and email address, the content of your messages and anything you attach. Please don't send us your chats unless you need to.
WhyTo answer your question and keep a record of the conversation.
Lawful basisLegitimate interests (answering the people who contact us).
Kept for24 months after the conversation ends, then deleted.
Service providersCloudflare (receives and forwards email sent to our address), Resend (stores and sends our support email; EU region) and Anthropic (the AI service behind our support assistant, which reads your message and drafts and sends replies).

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log visitors' IP addresses for security and to run the service; see Cloudflare's privacy policy. We don't use cookies, analytics or tracking pixels.

Chrome Web Store

Google runs the Chrome Web Store and shows us only aggregate statistics, such as install counts. Its handling of your data is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Chatcrate's use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't sell user data, use it for advertising or to decide creditworthiness, or transfer it except as described above.

International transfers

Some of the services we use (Cloudflare, Resend, Freemius and Anthropic) are US companies and may access data from outside the UK. Where personal data leaves the UK, we rely on the safeguards in those providers' terms, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. Email us for details.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, to object to how we use it, or to send the data you gave us to you or another organisation in a portable format. Email support+chatcrate@orderhue.com. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing. Chatcrate is not intended for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also email Pro customers. If the extension ever needs to send a new kind of data, we'll update this policy and the Chrome Web Store listing before that version is released.
